This weekend, my boyfriend Peter and I went to American Field, a pop-up market focused on showcasing American-made brands. It was set up in the Boston Innovation and Design building in the Seaport area, spanning the majority of the 5th floor.
Peter made off with a unique Japanese indigo buttondown from Idea Lab, and a sporty purple flannel from Ball and Buck. I got a vintage gold choker necklace that looks like a tiny belt from Ex Voto Vintage, which will definitely become a go-to accessory of mine this fall.
Some other cool brands we discovered were Stonehill Design, lighting fixtures made from old objects such as a trombone, an antique camera, and a rotary telephone, and Virginie Millefiori, a sweet jeweler from Paris who makes whimsical designs featuring colored enamel accents.
We walked a lot this day, so I wanted to be comfortable, first and foremost. It was one of those weird pre-fall days where it was on the cooler side, but the air was damp with fog so anytime you stepped outside you immedately felt sweaty.
I opted for an oversized t-shirt dress that I found, forgotten in the back of a drawer. I just got these new black boots, and when September rolls around I'm basically determined to try to make my outfits as fall-ish as possible. I like how the sharp, close fit of the boots contrasts with the loose dress.
At the end of the day, after emptying out my backpack from the spoils of our shopping binge, I was devastated to find out that the weight of all our crap broke one of the straps. This bag is so perfectly functional and chic, however, that I'm going to take it to a repair shop and hope for the best.
